Martin Lenclos is a creative visionary with a broad-based background spanning start-up branding and fundraising, product development, business strategy, design leadership, and investment deck design. He has 15+ years of experience, and has founded 3 innovative start-ups, raised tens of millions in start-up funding, and driven exponential revenue growth for multiple business. Recognized as a creative pioneer who balances innovative ideation with business analytics and practical execution, Martin has become a trusted advisor and mentor to numerous entrepreneurs.
Martin runs KCED, a Brooklyn-based strategic design studio and works with start-up founders to develop business and creative strategies, clarify and communicate compelling brand stories, and prepare pitch decks and presentations that propel their businesses to the next level. His deep experience in ideation, creative innovation, and brand creation allows him to help young start-ups through critical inflection points including early stage periods, brand development, and product launches.
Although often hired initially to develop funding strategies or prepare investment presentation decks, Martin often comes to serve as a ‘one stop shop’ for founders, providing guidance on brand development, visual identity and messaging in addition to his fundraising work. His successes have included helping to raise over $150M for his clients in just 3 years, identifying new business opportunities that have increased seed money valuations by up to 4x, and creating powerful brand and marketing strategies that have catapulted fledgling start-ups to the next level.
Martin’s work as a consultant is informed by his prior background as an entrepreneur and creative strategist.
In 2006, he founded InstantLevel, a ground-breaking 3D personal web portal. This real-time virtual world gave users a 3D “everything at a glance” approach to surfing the web. In 2008, he became a partner with BOX Creative, an agency specializing in high-end interactive design and development and digital marketing, where he played a key role in the company’s 700% growth and devised his first start-up, a pioneering business that was incubated by BOX. Coverage3D produced first-of-their-kind 3D interpretative representations of events with high-profile clients including Leica, Pernod Ricard, LA Comic Con, and MoMA PS 1.
He then went on to found Pipture, a mobile video messaging platform that allows users to easily watch and share funny personalized videos and messages on social media or via email. He secured the investment, built a team of 25, and turned his initial idea into a fully fledged business that resulted in an invitation to become a mentor within an NYC incubator program. This mentoring work led him to his current consulting business.
Martin’s entrepreneurial experience, his earlier background as a practicing fine artist, and his expertise in creative strategy make him the perfect all-rounder. Throughout his career his clients, executive leaders and peers have recognized his rare blend of creativity and business acumen, and appreciated his ability to get to the heart of a business’s value proposition, and then clearly define and execute a strategy for success. His impact is always both immediate and sustainable.
Martin holds a Master's-level Diploma in Multimedia, Graphic Design, Performance Art and 3D from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He also studied at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art, New York, NY (Audiovisual, Motion Graphics, Advanced Photography and Advanced Painting) and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers Olivier de Serres in Paris (Industrial and Product Design).
